Author Guidelines — Journal of the American Medical Student Association (JAMSA)
1. Scope & Aims
The Journal of the American Medical Student Association (JAMSA) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal published on the ConductScience publishing platform. We welcome original research articles, review articles, case reports, short communications, and letters to the editor that fall within the journal’s scope. Please review the journal homepage for a detailed description of the topics covered.
2. Manuscript Preparation
- Manuscripts must be submitted as .doc or .docx files.
- Use 12-point Times New Roman or Arial font, double-spaced, with 1-inch margins on all sides.
- Include a title page with the manuscript title, all author names and affiliations, and the corresponding author’s contact information.
- Provide a structured abstract (Background, Methods, Results, Conclusions) of no more than 300 words.
- Include 3–6 keywords below the abstract.
- Number all pages consecutively and include line numbers for ease of review.
3. Figures & Tables
- Figures should be submitted as separate high-resolution files (JPEG, PNG, or TIFF; minimum 300 DPI).
- Tables should be included in the manuscript file, numbered sequentially, and accompanied by a descriptive title.
- All figures and tables must be cited in the text in order of appearance.
4. References
References should follow AMA (American Medical Association) style. Number references consecutively in the order in which they are first mentioned in the text using superscript Arabic numerals. List all authors when there are six or fewer; otherwise list the first three followed by “et al.”
5. Submission Process
- Create an account or log in to the ConductScience publishing platform.
- Navigate to Submit Research and select Journal of the American Medical Student Association (JAMSA) as your target journal.
- Upload your manuscript, figures, and any supplementary materials.
- Complete all required fields including author information, scope statement, and agreements.
- Review your submission and click “Submit.”
6. Peer Review Process
All submissions undergo an initial editorial screening followed by single-blind peer review. The editorial team aims to provide a first decision within 4–6 weeks of submission. Authors may be asked to revise and resubmit their manuscript based on reviewer feedback.
7. Open Access & Fees
All articles are published under open access with no article processing charges (APCs). There are no submission fees.
8. Ethics & Policies
- Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest and funding sources.
- Research involving human subjects must have received appropriate institutional review board (IRB) approval.
- The journal follows COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines for handling misconduct.
- Plagiarism, data fabrication, and duplicate submission will result in immediate rejection.
