  • Article fee, including none
  • Waivers

  • Publisher of record, holding the publishing rights and DOIs
  • The journal's website
  • Submission and peer review system, with dashboards for editors
  • Preservation in Portico, and ORCID sign-in
  • Fee collection, payments to your society and author support

Your society sets the fee, and ConductScience.org takes a share

On Starter, ConductScience.org keeps 20% of each published article's fee, or $99 if that is more. Growth costs $250 a month and lowers those to 10% and $49. Card fees are deducted at cost.

The example starts at 40 articles a year at $600. Move the sliders to your journal's numbers. The figures leave out card fees.

What each journal gets

Article pages set up for Google Scholar

Each page carries the citation tags Google Scholar indexes: title, authors, journal, date, DOI and references.

See an article

A Crossref DOI for every article

Each article is registered with Crossref under the prefix 10.55157, which gives it a permanent link for citing.

Open an example DOI

ORCID for authors

Authors can sign in with ORCID. Their iD appears on the article and in its Crossref record, and Crossref can add the article to their ORCID record.

Peer review, and open peer review

Editors run the journal's peer review as they do now. Authors can also post their paper for open peer review: public comments from other researchers, separate from the editors' decision.

How open peer review works

Data with its own DOI

Authors can deposit the data behind an article as a record with its own DOI.

Help for authors

An AI assistant answers authors' questions about submitting, review and fees. Its button is at the bottom right of this page. Authors and editors can also email research@conductscience.org.

Questions

Who holds the publishing rights and DOIs?

ConductScience.org is the publisher of record. It holds the publishing rights and registers each article's DOI with Crossref. Published articles are also deposited with Portico, the archive libraries use to keep articles available if a publisher stops publishing.

Who collects article fees?

ConductScience.org asks authors to pay after their article is accepted. It keeps its share and pays the rest to your society.

Can authors publish for free?

Yes. Your society can run the journal as diamond open access, with no fee, or waive the fee for any author. For each article published free, your society pays the plan's minimum: $99 on Starter, $49 on Growth. Turn on Free to authors in the calculator to see the cost.

Will the journal be in MEDLINE?

The National Library of Medicine decides which journals MEDLINE includes, and when. We help your journal meet its requirements and apply. If the journal is already in MEDLINE, say so in the form, and the proposal covers the move.

How much data can authors store?

Each published article includes 5 GB of data storage. Above that, storage costs $5 per GB, paid once.

Can we move our back issues?

Yes. Your current publisher sends us the files, and the DOIs move to ConductScience.org through a Crossref title transfer. We quote the move once we see what you have.

Can the journal have its own web address?

On Starter, the journal is at conductscience.org/journals/your-journal. The Growth plan adds your own web address, such as journal.yoursociety.org.
